Friends came from near and far.
Marshall Roberson, long-time minister friend and his wife Dorothy (Jennings) Roberson honored us by their presence.
Well known retired persons who have influenced the church like Sister Bernice Woodard, former writer for the Church's official publications (extreme left) and Ruth Crawford, retired missionary sitting next to Bernice.

There were five generations of my family. Back row L to R is Kimberly Lawrence (my grand-daughter) Me, Frankie Durham (my daughter) Front row L to R Hailey (my great-grand-daughter) and her great great grand-mother, Bonnie.
What a wonderful time we had yesterday, the 19th of March! From two o'clock until five o'clock we rented space at the Mountain View Inn and had a birthday party for Mom's 90th. The five of us bought food and invited 100 plus friends (103 of which actually showed up) to help us celebrate the life of this wonderful woman. It would be almost impossible (?) for me to name all of them. Successful ministers, song-writers, singers, musicians, retired church leaders, and some still active ministers were in attendance. A letter was read from the General Overseer (Presiding Bishop) of the Church of God, the church in which Mom has held credentials since 1950. People were there who had attended her very first Revival! Some came from Colorado, from Texas, from Louisiana, from Georgia and Tennessee. Evangelists and Pastors spoke of the glowing accomplishments of this Lady Minister. Her children rose up and called her blessed! Her friends spoke with sincerety of the godly life this woman has lived. How we thank God for the many many people who honored her by their presence on this special occasion. WE LOVE YOU MOTHER!

Happy birthday to your Mom. It's obvious that she is a wonderful woman, and it's great that you were able to have such a grand celebration. I really like that last picture with the five generations in it. That is so special.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!!!!! How did I miss this entry? I know you guys had a ball. I know you mom did, it must have been great to have that many wonderful folks paying tribute to such a wonderful woman. Her life indeed has been a colorful one. Not many dull moments in that ladies 90 years that is a fact.
Seeing the pictures is enjoyable, y'all invited a hundred and only 103 showed up. That speaks wonders right there.
Your mama still looks great, I have a feeling she will celebrate 100 if the Lord doesn't come first.

How priveledged we are to call her grandmother... aka Muddy! She is still in pretty good health and still preaching! I loved when she said she didn't think many would come to her funeral if she died at this age - but the turn out for the party gave her hope. I think she has MANY more friends than she realized. You all (brothers & sisters & spouses) sure did a great job getting the party together. It was a lot of fun. Wish I had gotten to fellowship with more people than I did, but it was sheer delight for me to visit with the ones that come from Morristown to be with her.
What a fantastic accomplishment to celebrate 90 and still be preaching. How wonderful. Your family is lovely and the 5 generation snapshot is a true keeper. You can sure tell that your family is close-knit. I love seeing these kinds of celebrations. We had the same turn-out for my late Grams 90th many years ago. She too, was amazed at the number of friends and family present just for her.

How wonderful to be able to have such a gathering of friends and family. I'm sure it was VERY SPECIAL for your mother... and a moment of her life that will always be highly treasured!! You're a good son for helping put that together:)
